Arizona State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

Arizona Certificate of Authority to Operate Real Estate School:  Code/Approval Number: S08-0004

Every two (2) years or 24 month period of licensure, twenty-four (24) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.

  • Licensees move to a four (4) year license renewal period after renewing after 07/01/07 OR after first renewal for new agents on the last day of the month the license was originally issued.
  • Licensees in a four (4) year renewal cycle will still need to complete 24 hours of Real Estate Continuing Education every two (2) years, equaling 48 hour of Real Estate Continuing Education in four (4) years.
  • Licensees are only allowed to obtain 9 hours of CE per day per AZ REC.
  • At least three (3) hours of credit in the Commissioner’s Standards category must be the Broker Management Clinic course if you are an active status designated broker (includes self-employed brokers), but does NOT include associate brokers.  The CE Shop does not offer this course at this time.
  • Below are our courses that meet the mandatory topics needed of the 24 hours:
    • Navigating Arizona Agency (3 hours) – Agency Law, AND
    • Arizona Residential and Land Contracts (3 hours) – Contract Law OR
    • Arizona Short Sale and Foreclosure Risk Management (3 hours) - Contract Law, AND
    • Arizona Commission’s Standards (3 hours) – Commission’s Standards, AND
    • Arizona Disclosures (3 hours) – Disclosure, AND
    • Keeping it Honest: Understanding Real Estate & Mortgage Fraud (3 hours) – Legal Issues OR
    • Short Sale and Foreclosure Risk Management (3 hours) - Legal Issues, AND
    • Breaking Barriers: Fair Housing (3 hours) – Fair Housing Issues.
  • See the Renewal Packages for licensees needing all 24 hours of Real Estate continuing education in their 2 year or 24 month period of licensure.
  • The law requires 24 hours of continuing education (CE) credits be taken DURING each 24 month period of licensure. If you have a 4 year license and complete 24 hours of credits within the first 24 months (2 years) you can continue to take and record CE, but it will NOT apply to the second 24 months of the licensure period. Classes do not apply to the second CE period until that 24 month period begins. For example, if you are licensed from 1/1/09 to 12/31/2012 you must take 24 hours of CE between 1/1/09 and 12/31/2010 and another 24 hours of CE between 1/1/11 and 12/31/2012.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time.  Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state.  Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process.
